Turkey, Russia and China are Georgia’s top trade partners this year shows the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgia’s top 10 trade partners in January-June 2017 made for 66 percent of the country’s total trade turnover, with Turkey ($731.7 million), Russia ($518.3 million) and Azerbaijan ($412.2 million) filling the top three spots.
Trade with EU countries
Trade turnover with European Union (EU) countries increased by 10.9 percent year-on-year (y/y) and amounted to $1303.2 million, said Geostat.
Exports were worth $294.7 million (30.4 percent higher), while imports reached $1008.5 million (6.3 percent higher).
Trade with CIS countries
The external trade turnover of Georgia with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries totaled $1539.2 million in January-June 2017 – a 34.4 percent higher compared to the same period of 2016.
Exports were worth $474.1 million (61.2 percent higher) while imports equalled $1065.1 million (25.2 percent higher).
