United States (US) Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly has travelled to the occupation line where an illegal "border” marked by the Russian troops separates Georgian farmers from their agricultural lands.

Kelly visited the village of Karapila in the Kaspi municipality in central Georgia to see the new so-called "border” sign erected by the occupation force.

Kelly told journalists that violating a sovereign country’s territorial integrity is unacceptable and the US will never tolerate this.

"This place is close to the country’s central highway that has strategic importance. In the 21st century, a neighbouring country is grossly violating the territorial integrity [of another state] and the US will continue talking about this and speaking up for this”, Kelly said as reported by local media.

The Ambassador said that these artificial barriers that the powerful country is creating cannot last long.

He also said that he wished for a quick solution to exist. Kelly added that Georgia has "a very pragmatic approach” towards the issue and he believed this was the right approach.
