A dolphin named Dana gave birth at Georgia’s western, seaside Batumi dolphinarium yesterday.
The mother and newborn feel good.
Dana was under special supervision for over a month in order to ensure an easy and safe delivery for her and her baby.
It is very rare for dolphins to give birth in captivity.
However, it is already the sixth such case at Batumi’s Dolphinarium, which points to the institution’s high quality of life for the dolphins housed there, the administration of the Batumi Dolphinarium reported.
Now Dana will feed the baby dolphin with her milk for a period of 3 years.
