The Parliament of Georgia approved President Giorgi Margvelashvili’s nominee, a Harvard University graduate, Maya Melikidze, as a new member of the country’s National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission today.
The Commission is a legal entity which regulates electricity, natural gas and water supply sectors.
The Commission is independent from any governmental institutions and acts in the capacity under the Law of Georgia on National Regulatory Authorities and the Law of Georgia on Electricity and Natural Gas.
Since March 2016 up to now Melikidze had served as Margvelashvili’s economic adviser.
She is a graduate of Harvard University Business School and the European Management School, and has years of experience in the banking and management sector.
