The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to invest €300 million in Georgia this year.

President of the EBRD Sir Suma Chakrabarti met Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili today at the World Economic Forum taking place in Davos, Switzerland, where he announced the Bank’s plans for investing in Georgia.

Chakrabarti promised the EBRD would continue its "tight cooperation” with Georgia now and in the future. He also announced that the Bank would provide increased investment and financial assistance to the country.

We have large-scale plans for Georgia this year. We hope to be able to invest €300 million in Georgia. We have a very successful relationship with Georgia and it is not only about investments. We support the country [in its attempt to] improve its business environment, so that Georgia can become more attractive for investors”, said Chakrabarti.

Last year the EBRD provided very strong support for the Georgian economy as investments hit a record high of €250 million.
