For those who love hiking and being surrounded by nature, Georgia is the right place to explore as it offers a vast array of unforgettable hiking experiences, say environmentalists.
The annual hiking season officially opened on April 22 in Georgia.
To mark the occasion Georgia’s National Hiking Federation arranged the first event of the season – a tent camping experience near Tkibuli reservoir in the country’s Imereti region.
The first camping trip lasted for four days and in that time hikers explored the area near the Tkibuli reservoir.
The Georgian National Tourism Administration, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia supported the opening of the 2016 hiking season.

The 2016 hiking season will officially close in October. Until then Georgia’s National Hiking Federation will offer a range of tours for hikers of all abilities in all parts of Georgia.
Georgia, often thought of solely as a mountain state, offers a diverse landscape that encompasses grasslands, a mountainous centre, desert plateaus and canyons.
Representatives from Georgia’s National Hiking Federation believed all these aspects made Georgia an ideal place to hike for locals and tourists. The Federation encouraged people to contact them to learn more about the diverse hikes and offers.
