Gudauri - Georgia’s iconic winter wonderland will soon be transformed into a world-class ski resort thanks to a $150 million USD project implemented by Georgia and its foreign partners.

Canadian mountain development firm Ecosign and Ernst & Young have teamed up with governmental and private sector representatives to implement the New Gudauri project and develop the infrastructure at the alpine resort.

The master plan for developing Gudauri was revealed today by Ecosign and presented to Georgia’s Economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili. The document was prepared based on research and surveys by the Canadian experts.

Today’s announcement of the project details comes about six months after Georgia signed an agreement with its international partners to develop Gudauri. The deal was penned on October 16, 2015.

Georgia’s Ministry of Economy said the master development plan outlined to triple the length of the ski tracks and increase the number of beds available at the resort to 16,000 per night.

Minister Kumsishvili believed these changes would transform Gudauri into an internationally recognised ski resort that was on par with other European ski areas, and improve the investment attractiveness of Gudauri.
