An unfinished film by Georgian film director Tinatin Kajrishvili has been selected among a handful of projects to participate in a special international program at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

Kajrishvili's unfinished feature film Citizen Saint will feature in the festival's ‘La Fabrique des Cinemas du Monde’ collaboration program, which provides filmmakers the opportunity to meet producers and other industry experts and ultimately lead to collaboration to complete their unfinished works.

The Georgian director's film was selected by staff of the co-production platform alongside nine other projects from Africa, South America, Middle East and Asia.

Program organisers said ‘La Fabrique des Cinemas du Monde’ was a professional program that helped talented young directors from emerging countries increase their international exposure.

Each year 10 chosen filmmakers working on their first or second feature films were invited to the Cannes Film Festival with their producers to gain personal support, meet others in the industry and investigate collaboration opportunities to complete their projects.

The program was developed in close cooperation with the Cannes Film Festival and the Marche du Film.

Kajrishvili's second and latest film won the 2015 Development Contest of the Georgian National Film Centre.

The feature film was produced by Lasha Khalvashi of the Tbilisi-based Gemini studio. Khalvashi also collaborated on Kajrishvili's first feature film Brides, which premiered at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival.

The Cannes Film Festival will run from May 11-22, 2016.
