Georgian readers are enjoying an opportunity meet and talk with internationally acclaimed French writer Frederic Beigbeder and get their favourite books signed by him in Tbilisi this week.

The writer, best known for his book ’99 francs’ was warmly welcomed in capital Tbilisi by his Georgian fans on March 11.

Beigbeder met readers at Biblus Gallery book store in the central city. The venue's large hall could not fit the huge number of fans wthe came to meet their favourite author in person; some missed out but others were lucky enough to talk to the writer and get an autograph.

"A smile and a heart was what he wrote on my sheet  of paper while everyone else was handing him books to autograph!” a fan wrote after posting online a picture of the paper with Beigbeder’s drawing and autograph on it.

Later Beigbeder said Tbilisi had welcomed him warmly and the city and its people had hosted him well. On Facebook he posted a picture of Georgian dishes and wrote: "I love Tbilisi”.

He then uploaded another picture showing a long line of his fans holding books and waiting for his autograph.

Last night Beigbeder took part in a closed meeting with local writers at Tbilisi Writers House.

Meanwhile tonight the French author will attend a screening of the film Love Lasts Three Years, based on his novel.
