Improving the living conditions of some of Georgia’s most vulnerable people was the focus of today’s Government meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Speaking to Government officials, Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili introduced his plan to improve the living conditions of people forced from their homes due to environmental instability and those left homeless by internal conflict.
His plan involved offering more than 200 eco-migrants new homes and land, and gift 145 internally displaced families a new place to live.
These are the tasks we must fully concentrate on,” said Kvirikashvili, and he promised the notion of privatising residences and land for eco-migrants and IDPs would continue in the future so these people had a more comfortable life.
Also today the Government approved the plan to build a new enterprise in Georgia’s Marneuli municipality.
The new factory will produce mineral products and will be built within the ‘Produce in Georgia’ state program. Karieri 2015, a local company, will invest 187,392 GEL (about $75,870/€69,063*) in the new business.
Meanwhile, another local company Agroarma Group will invest about 1.2 million GEL (about $485,847/€442,262*) to build factories for several enterprises in Akhmeta village, Kakheti to produce essential oils, animal feed and textile production. These enterprises will also be built within the ‘Produce in Georgia’ program and about 62 people will be employed as a result.
Furthermore, the Government of Georgia also decided to allocate 8 million GEL (about $3.24 million/€2.95 million*) from the Georgia Regional Development Fund to the state-owned Mountain Resorts Development Company. The purpose of this was to increase the capital of the Mountain Resorts Development Company and allow it to continue developing Georgia’s mountain resorts, improve infrastructure and raise the touristic potential of the regions.
Georgia Regional Development Fund will also give 1,357,000 GEL ($549,412/€500,125*) to Georgia’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development to supply drinking water to 10 villages across the Administrative Boundary Line near Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region.
Eight villages are located in Gori municipality while the rest two are included in Kaspi municipality.
