A financially challenged family with six children and no proper shelter in Georgia’s east will meet the New Year in a brand new house.
The local government of the Lagodekhi municipality in the Kakheti region will purchase a home for the Siprashvili family after Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili called the Governor and asked him to solve the problem for the family yesterday.
Several days ago, heart-breaking pictures of small children living in a house with no roof or windows and no relevant living conditions went viral. People on social networks launched a campaign to collect money, warm cloths and other vital items for the family living in the village of Heretiskari in Lagodekhi.

The Administration of the Government of Georgia told local news agency Ipress the Prime Minister had phoned Kakheti Governor Irakli Kadagishvili and asked him to assist the troubled family yesterday.
The PM’s Administration said they learnt about Kvirikashvili’s phone call not from the PM himself but from the Governor.
"It became known to us that the release of these pictures was followed by Prime Minister Kvirikashvili’s phone call to the Kakheti Governor. Irakli Kadagishvili was tasked to solve the family’s problem in the nearest days," the PM’s Administration told local media.
"The Governor confirmed with us that he talked to the PM on this topic but he didn’t reveal further details," the PM’s office added.
"We later found out that the local council (gamgeoba) of the Lagodekhi municipality will buy a home for the Siprashvili family".

Head (gamgebeli) of Lagodekhi municipality Kakha Jamburia said the family wanted a house in the same village as they lived now but the problem was there was no house for sale in that village.
"We are still searching for a house and I assure you that the kids will have their own home in the nearest days," Jamburia told Ipress.
