Georgia’s Foreign Ministry opens hotlines after Istanbul blasts

Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced two hotline numbers for Georgian citizens in Turkey in the wake of two explosions in the centre of the Turkey’s largest city Istanbul last night.

The Ministry said no Georgian citizens were reported among the victims of the blasts. 

At this stage Turkey says there are no Georgian citizens among those injured,” the Ministry said.

The hotline in Turkey at Georgia’s Consulate is: (+90 541) 818 44 00.

The public can also phone another hotline, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, within the Consulate Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, if they need assistance or support. This number is: (+995 32) 294 50 50.

In a separate statement released this afternoon the Ministry expressed its "deep sorrow” over the terrorist act.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia condemns all forms of terrorism, shares the sadness of the victims’ families and the Turkish government and wish those injured a quick recovery,” the Ministry said.

The BBC reported two explosions near a football stadium in the heart of Istanbul killed 29 people and injured 166.
