Four people including a university director have been detained for faking university diplomas and school certificates and selling them to paying customers.
Today the Anti-Corruption Department of Georgia’s State Security Service said the four detainees were citizens of Georgia.
They were identified as director of David Guramishvili International University David Ch, eastern Gardabani local government representative Eter K, and two others named Patima Tch and Zurab G.
The Anti-Corruption Department said David Ch and another of the accused produced tertiary education diplomas from several universities in Georgia including Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University. The pair sold the fraudulent documents to Eter K and her accomplice.
The state alleged Eter K and her business partner then tried to on-sell two diplomas for $3,500.
Eter K and her business partner were detained at the scene while attempting to take money from a potential buyer.
The four accused face three years behind bars if found guilty of the charges against them.
