Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili is congratulating Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential elections and says the American people have voted for change and the result must be accepted.

A short time ago, Kvirikashvili released a statement congratulating the new president-elect on his unexpected election win.

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the president-elect Donald J. Trump on his victory in the presidential elections. [The] American people have voted for change, oriented on making the US even stronger,” Kvirikashvili said.

Kvirikashvili stressed Georgia would continue to have dynamic relations with the US and said Georgia-US relations had been built to serve the interests of both nations, since Georgia regained its independence 25 years ago.

Based on the history on mutual trust and confidence, we have developed a strong, comprehensive and deep strategic partnership between our two nations,” Kvirikashvili said.

The Georgian high official added Georgia was committed to continue working with the US under the new leadership and administration "to ensure peace, security, development and freedom in our countries, the region and beyond”.

Earlier today Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili also issued a statement regarding the US election outcome.
