Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili is refuting speculation that there will be a large-scale merger of several ministries after the Parliamentary Elections.

Today Kvirikashvili said he did not approve of a major merger of several ministries as he believed such a process would inhibit the dynamic and fast development of Georgia, however he confirmed changes were ahead for several ministries.

A short time ago Kvirikashvili spoke about plans to merge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry for Diaspora Issues. He also said "two or three ministers” would change in the new Government.

First of all I want to say that the electoral process is not finished yet in Georgia and consultations about this issue will be held with the new majority in Parliament,” said Kvirikashvili in an interview with local Imedi TV.
It’s my personal view that a large-scale merger of ministries isn’t required at this stage … and to not inhibit the current fast, dynamics of state development.”

In his interview the PM said some changes were ahead but these would be relatively minor.

Of course there will be structural changes within the existing ministries and a very conservative approach will be established towards administrative expenses.

The PM vowed the new Cabinet formed after the Parliamentary Elections would be "very dynamic” and eager to fulfil the Government’s "ambitious agenda” to support state development and fulfil all the election promises given to the population.
