President: “I voted for multi-party Parliament”

President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has cast his vote in the 2016 Parliamentary Elections of Georgia.
About 9am Margvelashvili and his family visited #6 polling station in Mtatsminda district, central Tbilisi, to vote.
After he cast his ballot the President said his choice supported a "multi-party” Parliament that would be composed of professional people who "care about the country”.
Margvelashvili added he voted for "a stronger and democratic Georgia.”
The President congratulated the country and its people on Election Day and urged the public to participate in the elections.
Today Georgia will elect a new, 150-seat Parliament that will be in power for the next four years.
All polling stations in Georgia are now open where people can go and cast their vote in the Parliamentary Elections.
At 8am this morning polling stations around the country opened for 3.5 million voters to elect a new Parliament that will later form the Government of Georgia. This will be the ninth Parliament in the history of independent Georgia.

Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) hosted a final briefing ahead of elections. 42,092 representatives from different political parties or blocs will observe the elections, 29,931 members of 111 local observing organisations will monitor the election process 1,440 representatives from 55 foreign observing missions will observe the race.
At today’s Governmental meeting, PM Kvirikashvili said the Parliamentary Elections will be a milestone in the history of democratic Georgia, and he stressed the importance of every person in Georgia voting in tomorrow’s elections and supporting Georgia’s European future.

Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) says the preliminary results of today’s Parliamentary Elections will be released about 6am tomorrow. CEC spokesperson Ana Mikeladze announced this at a briefing this morning.
Georgian citizens living in Russia are not able to cast their vote in Georgia’s Parliamentary Elections today. No polling stations were opened in Russia for Georgian citizens.
