France Defence Minister pays first visit to Georgia

Minister of Defence of France Jean-Yves Le Drian will visit Georgia’s capital Tbilisi today.
This will be the French Defence Minister’s first-ever visit to Georgia.
His trip will last for three days and while here the French Minister will meet Georgian leaders and other high officials.
The French official will hold his first meeting with his Georgian counterpart Levan Izoria.
He will also meet Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, President Giorgi Margvelashvili and other Georgian defence officials.
The French Defence Minister is scheduled to travel to western Georgia to attend the 10th anniversary celebrations at Sachkhere Mountain Training School, which was established using financial support from the French side.
The French Minister will also award medals to Georgian military soldiers who served alongside French servicemen in Afghanistan and the Central African Republic.
Georgia’s Minister of Defence Tinatin Khidasheli is in Paris, France to meet her French counterpart and discuss Georgia-France military relations.
Georgia has signed another contract with France aimed at strengthening Georgia’s defensive abilities.
French experts will come to Georgia to support and guide the country as it develops its air defence capabilities.
Minister of Defence of France Jean-Yves Le Drian has promised France will help Georgia strengthen the country’s ability to defend itself.
