Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has today met the new International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission director for Georgia Mercedes Vera-Martin.
Kvrikashvili congratulated the new mission director on her appointment and hoped her activities would bring more success for Georgia, and further deepen the partnership between Georgia and the IMF.
At today’s meeting the Georgian high official shared his plan about how to increase Georgia’s economic development to Vera-Martin. This plan was the four point reform agenda, which involved new tax benefits, infrastructure plans, governance reforms and an overhaul of the education system.
Additionally, Kvirikashvili and Vera-Martin’s conversation also touched on topics related to Georgia’s hospitality sector and growing tourism potential as well as Georgia’s aspirations to integrate into the European Union (EU).
The PM detailed the several agreements Georgia had recently signed with the EU, including the Association Agreement (AA) and its inclusive Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) deal.
Both sides hoped Georgia could become a model country in the region for microeconomic stability and economic development.
