Georgia has been named as one of five nations whose outfit stood out at the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The list was suggested by Sports Illustrated, an American sports media franchise whose self-titled magazine has over three million subscribers and is read by 23 million people each week.

In an online post, the magazine rated Georgia as one of five nations that "stood out” at the Opening Ceremony.

Sports Illustrated said Georgia went back to its roots when designing the outfit for its national Olympic team and for this, Georgia deserved to be mentioned on its "standout list”.

Georgia went old-fashioned with its women wearing long skirts and red blazers inspired by their medieval history,” Sports Illustrated said.

This reaction was a surprise for Georgian fans, as many initially criticized the national team outfit for being too old fashioned.

Alongside Georgia, other nations ranked as the originally dressed were the United States, Australia, Canada and South Korea.
