Top policy makers, civil society organisations, key stakeholders and international experts from the region and across Europe are in Tbilisi this week to discuss the current food and nutrition challenges as well as best practices in food safety.

The two-day International Conference on Food Security and Nutrition was hosted by Oxfam – an international confederation of 18 organisations who work with partners and local communities in more than 90 countries to find solutions to poverty.

The June 15-16 conference was hosted at Tbilisi Courtyard Marriott Hotel.

At the conference Oxfam revealed results of research carried out through its European Union (EU) funded project Improving Regional Food Security in the South Caucasus through National Strategies and Smallholder Production.

Over the two days international and local experts also presented other research findings on the topics of nutrition, food security monitoring and gender sensitive approaches to agriculture and nutrition relevant for the South Caucasus region and beyond.
