Tbilisi Olympic pool opens to the public

An Olympic-size swimming complex built specifically for the 2015 Tbilisi European Youth Olympic Festival is opening today to the public.

A festive celebration will take place at 7pm tonight to mark the official opening of the pool. Visitors are welcome to attend the official ceremony before getting into their swimming outfits and enjoying a pool party from 10pm.

The swimming complex is located in Digomi and comprises of three pools – two outdoor pools and one indoor pool for children.

The complex is capable of serving about 400 visitors per day and was built using the latest technologies so is able to host swimming competitions.

Pool users can also enjoy a cafe and outdoor bar. 

Management said the cost it would be affordable.

The facility will offer a range of packages to suit the needs and budget of users.

The pool complex was built for the 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival, held in capital Tbilisi last July. Dozens of young athletes from all over Europe took part in the swimming competition at the new complex.
