Georgia’s port city Poti, located on the eastern Black Sea coast is undergoing major infrastructural developments this year, raising its role as a touristic hot spot of the country.
Today a new Tourist Information Centre opened in Poti’s culture and recreation park where visitors can go to receive information and maps about the city and wider region, or about greater Georgia.
This was the 18th Tourist Information Centre in Georgia and the fourth in Georgia’s Samegrelo region.
After the new Tourist Information Centre opened, head of Georgian National Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze and Poti Mayor Irakli Kakulia visited the construction site of a new public boulevard on Poti’s Maltakva coastline.
Work to renew the Maltakva coastline began in October 2015. The Georgian Government allocated 18.5 million GEL (about $8.65 million €7.75 million*) to improve tourism infrastructure and return the coastline of Poti’s Maltakva recreation zone into better shape.
The first stage of the project included building a 370m-long boulevard along the coastline. Aritst impression.
