A new short film by a young Georgian director has been selected to be shown at an American film festival that highlights the creative talent of independent filmmakers.
On Tuesday organisers of the LA Film Festival announced the full line-up of feature and short films selected to show at this year’s event from June 1-9.
The program of around 100 works - including more than 40 world premieres - will feature the 2015 short film The Preparation by budding Georgian director Giorgi Tsilosani.
Screening within the Shorts Program 1, one of five short film sections at the festival, Tsilosani's film featured a cast of Georgian actors in a portrait of a family preparing for the death of its elder member.
The short film was shot in 2015 in the western Georgia’s Cholobargi village.
Tsilosani worked on the film as director and screenwriter, while the work was produced by Tbilisi-based Millimeter Film studio with support from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University.

The Preparation was Tsilosani's 2015 graduation work from the University.
Screenings of the LA Film Festival will be hosted by ArcLight cinemas in Hollywood and Culver City, California.
The festival is organised by Film Independent, a non-profit organisation that "champions the art of independent film and the independent filmmaker".
