A Georgian man has been taken hostage near the so-called administrative border with Georgia's breakaway Tskhinvali region (South Ossetia).
Beglar Akhalkatsi, 57, who lived in the border village of Dvani in the Tskhinvali region was working in his orchard when he was taken away yesterday, his family members said.
Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said the man had been taken to the Tskhinvali pre-trial detention facility on the other side of the administrative boundary line.
Dvani village locals were concerned about the fact and emphasized that they also owned orchards in the area where the incident took place.
The MIA said international organisations had already been informed about the kidnapping case.
The European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) activated its hotline and encouraged anyone to phone them if they had any information about the incident.
