Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister Ministry of Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili has completed his official visit to China where he held several meetings with top officials.
Kvirikashvili held the last meeting was with China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
The National Development and Reform Commission is a macroeconomic management agency under the Chinese State Council, which has broad administrative and planning control over the Chinese economy.
Its role in developing the Chinese economic policy is very important, particularly in terms of implementing global projects. One of the projects soon to be established is the New Silk Road – Economic Belt project.
The Commission will be responsible for coordinating the New Silk Road – Economic Belt project, which China will implement with Georgia and other countries in the region.
The project was initiated by China’s President Xi Jinping last November.
While in China Kvirikashvili earlier met China’s Silk Road Fund representatives to discuss the $40 billion USD project that’s designed to improve trade, drive investment in infrastructure and boost connectivity across Asia.
At the same time the initiative would strengthen trade-economic relations, attract additional investments, would create new jobs and foster the development of participant countries, the Chinese side said.
