Famous Georgian movies screened in Rio

Georgia's most famous films are attracting attention in Brazil after being screened in the country's second largest city, Rio de Janeiro.

Rio de Janerio recently hosted Georgian Film Days where five Georgian movies from 1929 to 2012 were screened from March 5-9.

The films were from different periods in Georgia's cinematographic history - My Grandmother (1929) directed by Kote Miqaberidze, The Other Bank (2009) by George Ovashvili, Keep Smiling (2012) by Rusudan Chkonia, Pirosmani (1969) by Giorgi Shengelaia and Repentance (1986) by Tengiz Abuladze.

On March 5, after the film Repentance (Monaniabe) was screened, Georgian Ambassador to Brazil Otar Berdzenishvili met those in attendance and briefly reviewed the history of Georgian cinema.

Meanwhile, from January 7-19 those five Georgian movies were screened in Sao Paulo.
