The President and Prime Minister of Georgia are congratulating Estonia on its Independence Day.

February 24 is a national holiday in Estonia that marks the anniversary of the Estonian Declaration of Independence, signed on this day in 1918.

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili sent a congratulatory letter to his Estonian counterpart Taavi Roivas and wished peace and prosperity to his country.

"Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Estonia – Independence Day – along with the very best wishes of peace and prosperity for your country and people,” he said.

"I would like to reiterate that the transformation of Estonia represents an example for Georgia as we move forward towards building a strong, democratic and prosperous state. In practical terms, Estonia as a dedicated friend, by sharing your experience and expertise in implementing all the necessary reforms, is helping us to become part of the common European family and Euro-Atlantic space,” Garibashvili said in the letter.

In addition, the Georgian official expressed appreciation for the recent high level visits from Estonia, including the visit of Roivas last month.

"[These visits] are yet another demonstration of your solidarity and support and have even further strengthened the unique close cooperation existing between our countries in all spheres,” Garibashvili said.

"Once again, dear friend, please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and wishes of success.”

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili also congratulated his Estonian counterpart, Toomas Hendrik, on Estonia's Independence Day.

"Your Excellency, let me send you my heartfelt and sincere congratulations on the occasion of the Independence of the Republic of Estonia,” he noted.

"By using this opportunity, I want to emphasize how important it is for Georgia to develop friendly relations with Estonia. I believe that historical ties between our countries and close cooperation will be further strengthened and deepened for the success of both nations,” stated President Margvelashvili's letter to Hendrik.

"Your Excellency, I want to express my deep respect towards you and [I] wish Estonian people peace and prosperity."
