The benefits of Georgia’s signing of the Association Agreement (AA) with the European Union (EU) last year and the importance of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) deal was heavily discussed, a statement by the Georgian PM’s press service read.

The sides also spoke about the significance of visa liberation with the EU for Georgia and it was mentioned that providing Georgia with this right would be a clear demonstration of the EU’s support and the best outcome of the Georgian reforms,” the statement read.

Garibashvili thanked Pellegrini for his country’s continual support for Georgia’s EU integration ambitions, as well as for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Before the visit ends Garibashvili is also scheduled to meet with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico after which the duo will host a joint press conference.

The Georgian Government’s press centre said various documents will be signed by the two countries’ governments during the one-day visit to ensure closer ties.

The agreements that will be signed are an agreement of cooperation to combat crime, an agreement on the transportation of people and goods between Slovakia and Georgia and an agreement on readmission of illegal immigrants.
