Georgia’s Prime Minister congratulates Canada’s new leader on election win

The Prime Minister of Georgia has offered his congratulations to Canada’s newly elected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his hope to extend the partnership between the two countries in the coming years.

Irakli Garibashvili sent a letter of congratulations to Trudeau, the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, after he won the October 19 federal elections when his political party claimed 39.5 percent of the vote, giving the Liberals 184 of the 338 seats in Parliament.

The head of the Georgian Government underlined the significance of cooperation between Georgia and Canada and stressed the importance of Canada’s support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and drive for Euro-Atlantic integration.

In his letter Garibashvili expressed his confidence in widening and strengthening bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Canada, including new opportunities for the state leaders.
