Belgium, Georgia strengthen economic and political ties

Belgium will be Georgia’s partner in the process of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Belgium’s Foreign Minister Didier Reynders confirmed his country’s support for Georgia when he met his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Kvirikashvili earlier today.

The two officials discussed a wide range of political and economic issues and ways of deepening trade relations between Georgia and Belgium. Afterward their official meeting they announced a group of businessmen from Belgium would pay a visit to Georgia to boost bilateral trade cooperation.

"This will be a visit where, apart from political issues, attention will be paid to developing trade, encouraging investments and bilateral relations between the two countries,” Reynders said.

"This will be open dialogue about a wide range of topics including effective governance.”

He also said Belgium would support Georgia as the country sought integration into the European Union (EU) and NATO.

Meanwhile Belgium’s Foreign Minister reconfirmed his country’s firm support towards Georgia’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.
