What is your favourite type of cheese?
Sweet, salty, smoky, creamy or blue – whatever your preference, you’re bound to find it at a two-day cheese festival in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday regional cheesemakers will gather in downtown Tbilisi for the first Caucasian Cheese Festival and present their local cheese varieties to visitors.
The event, held at Rike Park near Old Tbilisi, will feature cheese and dairy products from different parts of Georgia. It will also include producers from neighbouring Armenia and Azerbaijan, with delegations from Turkey and Israel attending as invited guests.

Major industry players and individual cheese-makers will exhibit their products side-by-side, offering visitors the chance to sample the range of products.
On Saturday the cheese varieties will be judged by a panel of experts, with results of the competition revealed during the closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
Georgian Guild of Cheese Producers are organising the regional event and said the Festival aimed to represent a fresh concept compared to other annual cheese celebrations and help restore Georgia with its status of a regional production and trade hub.
