50m GEL is allocated to support small farmers in Georgia

Georgian Government allocates 50 million GEL for supporting 800 thousand small farmers during agricultural works in spring 2015. As a result it is planned to be tilled more than 400 thousand hectare territory.

The project of supporting the small farmers is already approved and is scheduled to start from February.

Arable land area increased and united new villages of Kutaisi (Georgia’s second largest city in the Western part of the country), Poti (located on the Eastern Black Sea coast) and Rustavi (situated 25 km Southeast of the capital Tbilisi).

This year the farmers will get assistance in different way:

  • Beneficiaries who own arable land from 0.25 hectare to 1.25 will receive only one plowing card which includes 140 GEL per 1 hectare.
  • Those farmers who own an arable land smaller than 0.25 hectare will benefit from 50 GEL agro card.

Land tilling process will be managed by the company Mekanizatori Ltd and its contractor companies.

Liberty Bank will take care of providing service for those farmers who own agro card. Agro card will enable them to purchase agricultural materials.

The project will be implemented by the Agricultural Projects' Management Agency.
