EU campaign raises awareness of Georgia-EU Association Agreement

The European Union (EU) has taken an official step forward to raise awareness of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA) in the local community.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today by Georgia’s Public Service Development Agency and the EU communication campaign ‘Let’s Meet Europe’ for the purpose of generating greater understanding of the AA deal in Georgia’s local communities and promote civil engagement regarding Georgia-EU relations.

Specifically, the document was signed by the head of Public Service Development Agency Shio Khetsuriani and ‘Lets Meet Europe’ expert in AA issues Tamar Khurtsia.

"The memorandum gives us the opportunity to plan and implement informational meetings with the local population, to hold EU cinema days and other events that will contribute to Georgia’s further approachment to the EU,” said Khurtsia.

The EU communication campaign ‘Let’s Meet Europe’ launched in Georgia in December 2011. It was initiated and funded by the European Union Delegation to Georgia.

The project is aimed contribute to bringing Georgian people closer to Europe and energising the country towards faster recovery, peaceful settlements of past conflicts and a new vision of society and opportunities.
