Alongside with 17 countries Georgian soldiers are participating in United States-led NATO naval exercise at the Baltic Sea.
This year with fourteen NATO allies Georgia, Finland and Sweden are debut to the Baltic Sea naval drills as part of exercise BALTOPS taking place on June 5-19.
The exercise aimed to improve opportunity of NATO allies and partners to work together.
This exercise represents an important opportunity for our forces, as allies and partners, to enhance our ability to work together and strengthen capabilities required to maintain regional security," Vice Admiral James Foggo III, the Commander of Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO said.
NATO website reported that overall 49 ships, 61 aircraft, one submarine, and a combined amphibious landing force are including in the drills. In total, 5,600 troops are participating Baltic Sea naval exercise.
The annual BALTOPS exercise has been held since 1971 and is now in its 43th year.
BALTOPS is one of several major multinational exercises this month which also includes exercise Noble Jump - the first deployment test for NATO's new quick reaction force, which will take place in Poland from June 9 to 19.
