Almost 3.5 million voters eligible for municipal election

There are almost 3.5 million voters who are eligible to take part in the June 15 local self-government elections.

The Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) published information about the number of voters and districts for the upcoming elections.

There are 84 districts with 3,491,105 voters. The largest district is Kutaisi – Georgia’s second largest city with 155,605 voters.

Georgia’s capital city Tbilisi is divided into 10 districts and contains the second and third largest districts in the country – Samgori with 135,663 voters and Gldani with 135,295.

The smallest district in the capital is Krtsanisi with 42,122 possible voters. In total, Tbilisi provides the potential for 935,543 eligible people to vote.

The country’s smallest district is the mountainous region in north-east Georgia - Kazbegi, with 5,314 voters, followed by Georgia’s Western districts Lentekhi and Oni with 5,946 and 6,562 voters respectively.

The municipal elections will be held in Georgia on June 15, 2014. Seventy one local self-government bodies - Sakrebulos and 2, 088 members of Sakrebulo, 12 city Mayors and 59 heads of the local municipality - Gamgebelis will be elected in the local self-government elections.
