Fostering international investors in Georgia’s economy is the aim of today’s meeting between the country’s Prime Minister and more than a dozen international businessmen.

Fifteen Belgium-based businessmen representing a variety of leading national companies arrived in Georgia to evaluate the prospective sectors they could possibly invest in.

In Tbilisi today the group met Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and discussed the various investment opportunities open to them in Georgia.

Garibashvili appreciated their visit and their expression of interest in investing in Georgia’s economy, and wished them success.

He provided the businessmen with detailed information about possible investment opportunities and highlighted that the country’s authority was oriented on protecting private ownership rights.

Businessman Benjamin Van Oudenhove said Prime Minister Garibashvili was encouraging and open about Georgia’s economy.

"We feel that the Prime Minister of Georgia is very dynamic and young and that is reflected on the development of the business environment. [We] discussed many topics including the business opportunities and I told Garibashvili that his Government was doing really great job meeting business representatives from all over the world and bringing a delegation to Georgia,” said Van Oudenhove.

"I am impressed with Georgia about its dynamism, voluntarism and capabilities of your young leaders.”

The group of Belgium investors arrived in Georgia on April 15 to discuss the prospects of access to local business projects with Government officials.

The business companies represented a range of business sectors including textile manufacturer DOMO Group, telecommunication and energy sector Novo Belgium Holding, law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP, environment and marine engineering firm DEME Group and global security integrator company Athena Security Implementations Ltd.
