Georgia’s President applaudes faster AA signing

Georgia has reinforced its readiness to sign the AA with the EU in June - two months earlier than planned.

Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili is welcoming the European Union's (EU) decision to speed up the signing of the Association Agreement (AA) with Georgia.

"This is an important step closer to Europe and the road of further integration. We reaffirm the strong will of the Georgian people to become a full member of the European family,” Margvelashvili stated.

Furthermore, the President congratulated Ukraine for signing a political part of an EU associate membership.

"This is a historic event and I hope it will contribute to the strengthening of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as stability in the region,” Margvelashvili added.

Georgia has reinforced its readiness to sign the AA with the EU in June - two months earlier than planned.

The EU Commission agreed to bring forward the signing of the document with Georgia and Moldova at the European Council’s first session on the Ukraine crisis yesterday.
