EU to sign the Association Agreement with Georgia in 2014

The EU will sign an Association Agreement with Georgia and Moldova in autumn 2014. This statement was made by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, at the meeting with EU leaders on 25 October.

Rompuy said that the European Council looks ahead to the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 28 and 29 November. The EU hopes to be able to take important steps, in particular to sign an Association Agreement with Ukraine.

"The EU is also ready to initial similar agreements with the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, which could then be signed next autumn, in 2014 , The President of the European Council said.
