The snowy conditions in Georgia have caused about a dozen car accidents and a plane to skid off the runway at Tbilisi International Airport.

About a hundred snow related calls were made to the Emergency Management Department in Tbilisi last night.

Sixty calls were made in response to cars skidding off the road, said ED head Temur Giorgadze.

There were ten minor car accidents in the capital city overnight.

Snow is currently falling in most areas of Georgia.

Meanwhile 6 flights were delayed after a Pegasus airplane skidded off the runway at Tbilisi International Airports this morning.

Motorists are facing some restrictions on Georgian roads. Vehicles are only allowed on some roads in North Georgia if they are fitted with anti-skid chains.

However, the Emergency management Department said the situation was under control and no serious issues had been caused so far.

Meteorologists forecast the bad weather to continue until February 5.
