Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has presented a two-year activity report at the Hotel Holiday Inn yesterday.
Deputy Minister Giorgi Amashukeli, who presented the report, noted that in the year 2014 the Regional Ministry implemented infrastructural projects amounting in more than 890 million GEL.
In particular, construction and rehabilitation works have undergone for the roads, water supply and drainage systems, irrigation channels, tourism and cultural monuments. Rubbish dumps have been regulated and coastline banks have been strengthened.
Overall, in the year 2013-2014, 55 kilometers of roads have opened and 552 kilometers have been rehabilitated. Moreover, 87 bridges have been reconstructed and 18 new bridges have been built.
Amashukeli also noted that a new water supply project has started, which enabled more than 300,000 people to use 24-hour water supply.
In addition, apartment buildings for internally displaced persons were built and 82 ambulatories adapted for the disabled people were installed.
The report presented by Amashukeli also noted that important steps were taken towards developing the infrastructure of tourism and cultural heritage sites. Works have been enhanced on the ski resort Tetnuldi in Georgia’s mountaineous region Svaneti and rehabilitation of Chiatura lifts in Western Georgia has begun.
Moreover, throughout the last two years, more than 14,000 small and medium-sized infrastructural projects have been implemented in different towns and villages of Georgia.
