Cruel Theatre Days on show in Tbilisi

Contemporary plays reflected cruelty of the modern world with confident and documentary accuracy has been presented at the Drama Theatre Festival named ‘Cruel Theatre Days’.

Young Georgian artists tried through the emotional readings of the modern plays to show ongoing actual problems which have shaken up the world and have transferred it into the drama performance.

Bold phrases expressed every subject connected to the violence and any of its form were on show at the Tbilisi Royal District Theatre.

The Cruel Theatre Days Festival has started on December 21 and will end tomorrow, December 24. With the support of the Ministry of Culture the event was organised by the Royal District Theatre and the Centre of the modern Theatre Art.

During the four days six artists are presenting eight plays Of Georgian and foreign playwrights.

The director of the readings Data Tavadze highlighted that the artists are drawing parallels with the modern world in their performances.

‘Cruel Theatre Days’ is against any type of violence. This is an attempt at least to start talking about the shocking issues with the relevant language,” Data Tavadze said.

This event aimed to maintain Georgian contemporary drama and plays, which reflect the important events in Georgia’s modern history.

Georgia's Ministry of Culture and Monument protection supported the festival.
