Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze is planning to meet Foreign Ministers from all 28 European Union (EU) member states today.

The meeting will be held parallel to the EU Foreign Ministers council meeting in Luxemburg.

The Minister will discuss current priorities future prospects of cooperation with EU, including the 2015 Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, as well as the development of EU-Georgia partnership after signing the Association Agreement (AA) and visa liberalisation process with EU, a media release stated.

Panjikidze will also point out the issues of security and stability in Georgia. Particular emphasis will be put on Georgia’s occupied territories, in light of the recent developments in Abkhazia in which Russia and Abkhazia are planning to sing a new treaty on ‘Alliance and Integration’.

In addition, the Georgian side will also stress the importance of intensifying the EU’s role in promoting stability in the country and the whole region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believed the meeting in this format was another clear demonstration of the EU’s and its member states’ support of Georgia’s European aspirations.
