Georgia has gained the right to host one of the most prestigious football events in Europe – the UEFA Super Cup.
The UEFA Super Cup 2015 will be held at Tbilisi’s Dinamo Arena on August 11, 2015. The UEFA Super Cup is an annual sporting challenge between the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions – the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
President of the Georgian Football Federation, Domenti Sichinava, said tickets would be affordable and would cost €7, €15 or €30 (16 GEL, 35 GEL or 69 GEL respectively), depending on which area of the stadium spectators wished to sit.
Tickets will be sold on the official UEFA website from July 2015. About 40,000 tickets will be open to Georgian fans while the remaining (about 15,000) will go to UEFA officials and fans of participating teams.
The first UEFA Super Cup was officially recognized and held in 1973. Since 1998 the match was traditionally held at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco, however from 2013 it was decided the event would be held in different venues.
In 2013 Prague hosted the game at Eden Stadium and this year the match was played in Cardiff, UK.
