Ruling party Georgian Dream (GD) candidates are celebrating an outright victory after winning all races in the second round of local elections, election authorities say.
Final official results from the Central Election Commission (CEC) revealed GD won the race in eight Mayoral cities and thirteen municipal districts in the runoff elections on July 12.
Elected Mayors, including the new Mayor of the capital city and Gamgebelis will be eligible to take offices from August 2.
In the first round of the Municipal Elections on June 15, GD gained enough votes to win outright in 46 municipalities and four self-governed cities.
In the initial election, GD also won majority seats in all 71 local councils (Sakrebulo) across the country.
Mayoral Runoff Results
In the race for Mayor of the capital city, Tbilisi, GD candidate Davit Narmania outclassed his opponent and gained 72.47 percent of votes while his challenger, Nika Melia from United National Movement (UNM) Nika Melia, gained 27.53 percent of votes.
