Georgia’s winter wonderlands are opening to the public this summer for the first time.
Winter ski resorts Gudauri and Bakuriani are ready to host guests and a raft of activities have been planned for people to enjoy.
From tomorrow, July 19, visitors will be able to enjoy special bicycle races boasting beautiful views of the resorts for the first time.
Construction of local roads has ended and stones have already been cleaned from the race tracks.
The races in Gudauri and on the Bakuriani mountain Didveli will be divided into three categories – easy, medium and difficult. The lanes will be marked and equipped with safety and informational signs.
In Gudauri, the total length of the race is 12km while in Bakuriani this is extended to 28km.
As well as bicycle racing, visitors can experience the outdoors and enjoy one of many hiking tracks and camping trips offered in the region.
Chairlifts will operate in Gudauri on weekends and in Bakuriani throughout the whole week from 11am until 5pm.
In August, a competition will be held for bicycle enthusiasts who will race first in Gudauri, and if successful, complete the final contest on Didveli. The event is open to the public.
The Gudauri and Bakuriani summer season is organised by the Mountain Resorts Management Company of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
