Three Georgian police officers participating in the European Police and Fire Games 2014 have dominated in the pool and won seven medals in the international competition.
Since the biennial competition began in Belgium on July 12, the Georgian team has won 17 medals in a range of sporting disciplines including two gold and 10 silver medals.
In the swimming arena, Georgia police officers participated in various events. Officer Giorgi Berdzenishvili won silver medals in 1500m freestyle and 200m butterfly events. He also earned a bronze medal in the 50m distance contest.
Another serviceman, Giorgi Samarghanashvili won three medals. He won silver in 50m freestyle, silver in 100m freestyle and bronze in 200m freestyle.
Officer Levan Varamashvili won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke event.
The European Police and Fire Games are being held for the fifth time. As well as swimming, officers from the European region are competing in more than 25 different sports, including archery, beach volleyball, cycling, triathlon, K9 activities, half marathon running and various athletic events.
