Scientists will soon be able to measure air contamination levels in Georgia for the first time.
One hundred single-use filters were installed in Georgia’s seven largest cities today. The filters will measure the number of impurities in the air and determine how polluted the air is.
Once all information is recorded, the filters will be collected, placed in special containers and sent to Great Britain where they will be thoroughly analysed in special laboratories.
The results will assess the air quality in Georgia.
Of the 100 filters, 36 were installed throughout the capital city, Tbilisi. Environment Minister Khatuna Gogoladze attended the installation process.
The project was supported by Georgia’s Environment Ministry and Caucasus Environmental NGO Network. It was a part of an initiative financed by the European Commission in seven European countries.
