Swimming: Georgian hat-trick at prestigious international meet

Georgia’s most esteemed swimmer has beaten others from all over the globe and won three gold medals at an international swimming meet in Austria.

Prominent swimmer and London Olympian Irakli Bolkvadze gained the highest scores in the men’s 400m medley, 200m breaststroke and 200m medley events at the Vienna International Longcourse Championships 2014.

More than 550 swimmers took part in the prestigious competition.

Georgian swimmer, David Sikharulidze, won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle event at the same competition.

For Bolkvadze, the Vienna meet was the final phase before he takes part in the European Championship in Berlin, Germany, in August.

The 19-year-old, who currently trained at Hamilton Aquatics Dubai, won bronze at the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships.
