President of Switzerland will visit Georgia

The President of Switzerland, Didier Burkhalter, is set to arrive in Tbilisi for an official visit today.

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili will host Burkhalter tomorrow, after which the two Presidents will hold a joint press conference for media.

During his short visit the Swiss leader will also attend meetings with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze. The sides are expected to sign bilateral documents to boost mutual cooperation.

Burkhalter will also meet Georgia’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Zurab Abashidze and representatives of civil society.

He will end his two-day official visit to Georgia tomorrow afternoon.

Burkhalter announced he would pay an official visit to Tbilisi when speaking with Prime Minister Garibashvili at The Hague while attending the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit in March.
