SOCAR continues gasification in Georgia

The Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR will continue gasification of Georgian villages and towns until 2017 in the framework of the new agreement.

The agreement for the 100,000 families gasification in Georgia was signed on December 24 by the Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, Minister of Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev.

"This is a very important social project for Georgia and the government attaches a special importance to it. Azerbaijan is an important investment partner of Georgia, which provides us support and assistance on this path. said Georgian Minister of Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

According to the Minister of Economy, SOCAR is planning to construct the carbamide plant in Kulevi, which demands an investment worth about $1 billion. It will allow employment for about 5,000 people.

In 2013, 191 village of Georgia were gasified, according to the Ministry of Energy.
